We're pleased to announce that from today we're able to offer Europe as a choice of datacenter location when you subscribe to hosting. When a new hosting account is created you will have the chance to choose from North America or Europe as a hosting location.
When we started out, our customer base was overwhelmingly North American - it made the most sense to focus on this region, but as time has passed we have had the unbelievable pleasure of being able to welcome users from all corners of the world. Given the importance of response times, and the impact that longer round trip times can make to a site's overall load time (i.e. a visitor in Europe will invariably have a longer round-trip time to a site hosted in North America, due to the distances involved) it makes sense for us now to be able to offer more choice in where your site lives.
Which location should I choose?
As a general rule, you'll want to choose a location closest to the majority of your actual, or intended, site visitors.
Can I change locations?
Absolutely. If you've previously chosen Europe and wish to change to North America, or vice-versa (or signed up before we had a European server presence) then simply get in touch with us and we can migrate you between locations.
Will there be other locations?
We're hoping to launch an APAC (Australian) presence in the not too distant future, so stay tuned for that!
